Our company provides transportation of barges along the Mississippi River in Louisiana.
As a Deckhand, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel you are assigned to.
Responsibilities:
- Handle lines/wires and assist with building and breaking tow, or spotting barges at docks.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vessel - Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel and equipment - Follow safety protocols and procedures at all times - Assist with barge inspections when taking barges into our possession - Maintain communication with the captain and other crew members
Qualifications:
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts and in all weather conditions - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Knowledge of inland tow boat industry a plus - Ability to operate hand tools and other equipment - Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces - Valid driver's license and transportation to and from work We offer competitive pay and benefits.
