Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Loader / Operations Technician at its CO production facility in Geismar, Louisiana.
Primary responsibilities include working in a plant environment, and filling high pressure CO Tube Trailers. Specific duties include performing residual and final product analysis, conducting equipment inspections, and the loading and unloading of CO trailers. Candidates must be comfortable working 12 hour shifts and working weekends.
Candidates must be willing to take ownership of basic safety responsibilities, and must be focused on safe work habits and sustaining a team environment. The operator may also be required to conduct and maintain water treatment chemistry, perform daily operational outside task, and conduct various safety, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance task.
Additionally, it is also expected that the successful candidate will eventually progress through the various levels of operational responsibilities, with goal of becoming a fully qualified plant operator.
Operational Overview
The Geismar SSU facility produces five product streams: Normal Purity CO, High Purity CO, 1:1 Syngas, 2:1 Syngas, and Hydrogen. All compressed gas products are transported via pipelines, to various customers in the region. The Geismar SSU Facility also has a significant Bulk CO business which is very key to the Gulf Coast Franchise. Gaseous CO is loaded and transported from the Geismar facility via tube trailers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Personal Commitment to Safety
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts and be a strong team player
Process Technology Certificate/Diploma a plus
Should be CDL with hazmat endorsement
Demonstrated ability to operate mechanical and instrument systems in accordance with work instructions
