Specific responsibilities include:
Daily responsibilities include directing the Polyol shipping operations team, processing orders, coordinating with logistics and working with quality teams.
Assures compliance with all customer requirements as part of the order/shipment to meet customer expectations. Responsible for scheduling, tracking, inspection and maintenance of storage tanks, loading equipment, railcar fleet and tank trucks.
Directs and sets priorities between Polyol production, planning, logistics, maintenance and daily shipping team. Ensures consistency and accountability for shipping personnel regarding shipping instructions, procedures, documentation and EHS activities for the Cluster. Coordinates shutdown activities, equipment preparation and tag outs as required by the daily maintenance team. Serves as project manufacturing representative for small projects.
Ensures all EHS programs are followed and provides the appropriate regulatory documentation. Serves as an Emergency Response Team Member.
The Shipping Supervisor will direct the tank farm personnel when on shift. The position will work rotating day shift and will direct (while on shift) the different tank farm and unit assistants that are working in Polyol shipping, in total up to 16 individuals and 3 operators per shift.
Will assist with turnarounds and outages where needed, possibly including production unit assignments.
Knowledge/Skills
Strong Leadership Skills required to direct operators to load, ship and receive raw materials in a safe and cost effective manner.
Strong Coaching Skills required to develop operators in the understanding of the shipping and receiving plant operation and to grow their understanding of technical and business issues.
Strong interpersonal skills are required to interface with Daily Operations Team (DOT), Daily Maintenance Team, Technical Engineering Services Team (TES), Lab, Technology Group, contractors, logistics personnel and outside vendors. This position as well interacts with Railserve.
Strong technical problem solving skills to help in the resolution of DCS or maintenance issues that may arise in the shipping area.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma and five years of experience in operations of a chemical plant with intimate knowledge of departmental functions and plant operations.
In addition, 2 years supervisory or equivalent experience and board experience is strongly preferred.
BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Job: PROD - Production, Maintenance & TechniciansEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
