Come join us on our journey to create solutions for a sustainable future!Where the Chemistry Happens We are seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to work in our Geismar, LA site and be responsible for the safe, quality, and cost-effective execution of maintenance work in an assigned area. Mechanical Supervisor (1702439) Geismar, LA You will lead and direct the activities of BASF and Contract employees, removing barriers to facilitate work execution productivity for Routine, Turnaround, and Outage maintenance. You will provide expertise to support maintenance, operations, and capital project activities. Additionally, this position ensures a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools. The scope is all mechanical work. Formula for Success:
You Will Supervise, Manage, and/or Direct Mechanical Execution Teams Partner with key stakeholders to develop goals for staff and execution teams which support department objectives. Drive implementation, monitor effectiveness, and take necessary actions to meet objectives. Provide coaching and direction to ensure that the team successfully meet targets. Track Team Performance for success (KPIs/Metrics). Manage talent development and succession planning for staff, including team development and building/maintaining an engaged workforce. Coach staff and support mutually agreed upon development needs and training opportunities. Conduct job assignments considering developmental opportunities; train and coach so employees can be successful. Support the development of reliability targets consistent with business needs, and recommend necessary actions to achieve committed results. Ensure that required capabilities and skills are maintained. Manage personnel items including:
performance reviews, compensation programs, discipline, conflict resolution, short- and long-term disability, accommodation, consistent enforcement of rules and policies, change management, on-boarding of new employees, and engage in effective and clear communication. Ensure Work Execution Efficiency and Effectiveness Facilitate the execution of the maintenance work processes and activities. Provide overall leadership and direction to crafts for the safe and effective execution of work. This includes routine, turnaround, and outage maintenance. Ensure the application of all safety rules, assuring Maintenance personnel are aware of and employing safe working practices and promoting safety programs and behaviors. Facilitate first-time repair quality in an accurate, efficient, and effective manner to eliminate rework. Perform quality checks of executed work and utilize continuous feedback. Monitor and track team efficiency and quality of work. Facilitate work execution productivity as measured by Time-on-Tools. Remove barriers and obstacles encountered by the execution teams to maximize productivity. Ensure compliance to weekly schedule. Monitor defined area maintenance metrics and KPIs. Assist area stakeholders to define and confirm prioritization considering resource balancing. Provide daily communications, via reports, oral, and written communication, on the status of maintenance in the area, including job status information, incident/safety topics, production area information, best practices, and feedback. Drive the use of LEAN manufacturing tools to identify waste and drive continuous improvement to enhance the overall maintenance work process and improve cost effectiveness and efficiency. Share with other areas and communicate lessons learned. Ensure consistent, use of best practices within maintenance execution. Provide Technical Expertise to Execution Teams Function as the repair expert for critical maintenance. Provide expert direction and guidance to crafts on critical maintenance items, repairs, and tasks. Deliver expert guidance and direction to Planners and Schedulers to optimize the overall maintenance processes. Monitor inventory, spare parts availability, and Bill of Materials. Provide feedback to appropriate individuals to maximize effectiveness. Perform first-line troubleshooting, repair consultation, and support for crafts. Participate in or lead Root Cause Analyses. Coordinate the activities of third-party contractors. Stay abreast of current technology and maintenance practices. Create Your Own Chemistry:

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent Ingredients for Success:
What We Look for in You High School Diploma/Equivalent and a minimum of 9 years in mechanical maintenance in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment or Associates Degree and 7 years in mechanical maintenance in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment or Bachelor s degree with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment required. A minimum of 5 years of proven leadership experience is preferred. Broad-based, hands-on knowledge, and experience with various mechanical systems and equipment with an emphasis on rotating equipment. Possess a good working knowledge of all mechanical crafts and a solid understanding of maintenance work processes. Able to deal effectively with the unknown and unexpected and capable of handling non-routine and emergency activities (e.g., schedule breakers, plant shutdowns, start-up, commissioning). Proven ability to motivate and challenge maintenance crafts. Knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance in the absence of support staff This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
